Is my landlord over the line?

I have lived in this apartment in San Francisco, CA for 2 years. The 19th of August (today) is our last day- so it is somewhat late, but I just want to know what my rights are and if there is anything we can do at this late date. (also, I want to be able to protect myself from future land lords.

Some background-
My Landlord speaks decent English, but doesn't normally comprehend me too well. We moved here, originally 4, for college. Me and my roommate have been here the full 2 years, the other two were sorority girls (loud, dirty, drunk) and left and were replaced by 2 others for year 2. The first problem here is that my landlord did not properly inspect the place when these first two left.

So we are currently moving out. Me and my roommate gave 30 day notice. the third girl (she took over rent of 4th girl when 4th girl left) thought she was staying but things fell through and she got her notice in later.

This move has been ridiculously stressful. a) landlord never did a true inspection...at least not one agreed upon or where we were giver 48 hour notice. b) landlord told me one week ago that he wanted us out Sunday. 2 days before the end of our lease. Our rent is paid. c) he scheduled the new renter to come in on the same day as our last day. Legally I believe we have until midnight, no? d)I informed landlord of my intent to clean and also hire a cleaner on our last 2 days. Starting Saturday he and his entire family invaded our home without our consent to clean. They continued this on Sunday and then today Monday. Today (18th) was the worst as, his family moved all the stuff we still had in the kitchen and threw it hap hazardly on the floor...dirty dishes with clean, etc. (We were planning to move final living essentials on the 19th.) And they never asked if they could move our belongings. e) he expressed displeasure that my boxes of belongings were still in the apartment -due to the fact my movers flaked on me. I have decided to just get a uhual tomorrow (19th) and do it myself.

There have been other arguements with him as well, all along the same lines. At the end of it all, my question is, can he do this? We are still legally in the right, no? Can his people come in and stare at us and move our belongings without our consent. At one point he mentioned how we were so dirty. My roommates answer was that he never even gave us a chance to clean. Had he waited until the final day (19th)...he would have found the place clean as a pin.

We are now worried about him deducting from security deposit for unagreed upon cleaning as he apparantly paid all his family members. I know in SF you must get copies of cleaning supplies in order to have them deducted from your security deposit. Also, something that has not been mentioned by anyone... that I just found out. In SF, landlords have to pay interest on all deposits of monies held over 1 year. Seeing as he has had our deposits (last month plus half) for 2 years...he would definitely owe us something.

What can we do at such a late date?

I never agreed to being out on the day he wanted us out. None of the 3 of us did. I couldn't, I was working all weekend and had minimal time to clean and transport things.
