Is property owner liable.

The home I was living in with my fiencee burned down last Feb. Everything I owned was destroyed, or tossed out because of asbestos exposure. My clothing, childrens clothing, Tools, etc...etc.....GONE.
The fire dept ruled the fire as accedental because of an electrical malfunction, and my problem is that the insurance co is telling me that since I was not on the policy I am not covered. My question is.........Is my fiencee Liable, and would her insurance co have to pay me if she is liable.
Any advise is helpful.

Read the policy carefully............If you it does not answer your questions, you might need a legal expert to evaluate the content. The devil in normally in the details.
