help!
here's my dilemma in a nut shell, I'm only going off what my wife has told me, her great grandmother left her estate to her, i believe her great passed 7 years ago, she tells me that there is roughly 4.2 million involved, so she processed the paper work to get the money, a particular bank holds the money and is the executor of the estate, i guess they do what they do before releasing the money, check old debts and things alike, the biggest hold up was with the IRS, 7 months later she filled an appeal, the process seams to be taking to long and the person she was in contact with stop communicating with her. last thing i heard was that we had a court date in may, two weeks ago her bank account was garnished 4,000 because the IRS says they had no 2006 returns on file of hers (my wife) which is a lie, wife has since sent proof , this she thinks was a result of them auditing her while appealing, in the same breath while trying to find out why they took the 4,000 someone also said that there is no money left in the estate after some errors was discovered on past returns of the great grandmother some 60 years ago, my wife is so scared now, i told her something does not sound right and request she get the case file from the IRS, she thinks there right with out seeing any numbers, I'm trying to do what i can, but i have to get past her first before i can get to the IRS, so i need help by way of facts, can the IRS do what there doing within the law
