I was laid off on 4/14/09 by the president of the new management company hired by the owners of the property I used to work at. He flew in from Atlanta on the 13th just to lay us off. It was at the end of the working day he called me in he stated that "this is not going to work."I asked what was not going to work? He said we are going to let you go I asked why he looked around the room laughed let out a big sigh and responded lets just say you have a bad attitude I asked what do you mean of course I was in shock he said like I said its just not working heres your check now just go and get your things and leave he threw my check at me and then followed me to my desk and watched me pack my stuff and then he said oh don't forget to turn in your keys and if you left anything make sure you call before you come to get it I did leave some awards that I had received I called the next morning and he and the new manager would not come to the phone and they never returned any of my messages I could hear them in the background telling the temp to tell me that they were busy or out on the property my question is Do I have a case or not?

Wrongful termination? No.
Unemployment benefits? Yes.

The only people that were laid off were myself and two coworkers non of the maintenance workers were laid off and all of this was done after we were all told that no one would be fired that was told to us by the man that fired us and he said this in front of witnesses and he gave his word.
