I took my kids to the drs office wednesday and i wanted to get the their flu shots. The drs office wouldnt give it to them because they are on the PA access card. They said that they had the shot for kids who have regular insurance but not for the ones on the access card. So i called the hospital to ask what was going on. They told me that theres a state law that says if kids are on the access card they have to wait until a certain shot comes in. That even if I offered to pay for the shot they had they werent allowed to give it to my kids because of their insurance. Is there really a law in PA that says that or are they just giving me the run around again!! I didnt think that hospitals were allowed to deny children medical treatments!:confused:

The flu shot is not a medical treatment. I do know that ACCESS has some pretty funky laws. My SIL is on it with her special needs daughter. She has regular insurance plus ACCESS as a backup. Her Dr has to take BOTH of her insurances even though she may not even be using ACCESS so she had to find another DR that taks both.

You might want to call PA ACCESS and see whats up.
