My jurisdiction is: Texas

I applied for a job, and was going to get hired. They flat out told me the reason why I won't be hired is because of a misdemeanor that occurred back in 2001. First off the terms of my plea stated the charge would (and was) dismissed after completion of probation. Is this considered a conviction? Also could this be considered discrimination, since I was told by the company that they won't hire me because of this misdemeanor?

This is determined by state law. You will need to tell us what state you are in.

Also, did you tell them about the misdemeanor?

Finally, is there any connection between the misdemeanor and the job you were applying for?
