im not sure where to post a question of this nature.
I am a manager in a line of work that is heavily competitive. a competitor has taken the liberty of "informing" potential clients, a former employer and my new employer of a past criminal (nothing major) conviction, and has used it to "blackball" our company and prevent me from being employed in the same line of work for anyone else in the area. YES- it is public record, but are there any laws being violated for causing me emotional distress, humiliation, embarrassment, and possibly losing my current job? (keep in mind, i will not get hired anywhere else around here in this line of work due to the competitors gossiping).
Any help would be appreciated. thanks
