is this legal, or do I have a case?

Hello everyone.

I have a question about whether the conduct of one of my bosses. Basically since he came to work for out location he has been breathing down my neck. Prior to his arrival, I have had nothing but compliments on my work. He asigns me a task and I take it on to the best of my ability and always complete whatever it is he needs, unless it violates safety proceedures. Well he had asked me one day to refuel an aircraft inside a hangar, which is obviously a fire hazard, and I refused stating my reasons why. He then got furious and walked away. Any time after that he began nit-picking on whatever task he asigned and I completed stating the small things that weren't done to his liking. THEN he would go around the office saying what a bad job I did, pretty much making me look inefficiant. He does not do this to any of my co-workers in my department, nor have I heard of him doing this to anyone else in the other department. There have also been instances where a co-worker had done the same task, but really sloppy, and he gets a pat on the back.

This has been going on for about 8 months now since he (the boss) took over management of the facility. I have been singled out and feel like a target. I approached my supervisor about this and he said he couldnt really do anything. I then approached the boss directly and asked him if there was an issue and a resolution. He just then asked me if I was intimidated by him and walked off.

I am about to turn in my two week notice and found out that he will likely fire me when I do. I am leaving and going back to my previous employer, which will be a large paycut...

Is there anything I can do to fight this? is this really considered harrassment?
any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you have plans to return to another employer, carry them through to fruition.
Be prepared when you give notice for THIS jerk to say, today is your last day.

No, being a jerk isn't necessarily smart, but in America its allowed.
Besides, everything you say he's done, isn't illegal.
It wasn't discriminatory.

He left you alone when you properly refused to refuel the aircraft inside a hangar.
Sometimes people just can't get along.

You might be better off going to work where your talents are appreciated.
If you do, its better that its YOUR choice and you're not pushed out the door.
Leave with your pride and dignity and your head held high.

Thanks for a direct answer. Very appreciated. I know my post probably sounded more like complaining but yeah, hard to fully describe the issue. Again, thanks.
