My husband is a licensed TLC limo driver working for a small private company. Is it legal for the company to not pay him for a trip he did if the customer complained about his service...eg late for pick up, talked too much. Also is it legal for the company to take money out of all driver's paychecks if one driver does not own up to having an accident or denting the car? Also is it legal for the company to keep the driver's tip money if he fails to hand in all receipts on the day of the trip?

If he did the work, he must be paid. That is Federal law. He can be disciplined in other ways if there is a customer complaint up to and including termination, but not by refusing to pay him for work that he has already done.

The answers to your other questions are at least in part state specific.

I can't imagine that it's legal in any state to keep money that does not belong to you and is a tip from the customer to the driver, nor can I imagine it's legal to take money from someone's paycheck because you don't know who damaged your car...that's the same as all businessmen in a company losing money from their paycheck because nobody would admit to scratching the boss's new oak desk...however I'm not a lawyer so I really don't know...anyone?
