In late October I was asked to cover for a co-worker for two days that she was out. I work in a hospital and in that paticular job that I was covering for, it was my duty to fax reports to various doctors offices and also the different floors whithin the hospital. After I fax the reports it was my job to call the doctors offices and/or floors to confirm that they had recieved the fax. Once I was done with that I would make a dication to that report stating who I talked to, the time they recieved the report and my name.
So here comes the middle of november and my department director calls me into her office. She explains that for the two days I covered my co-worker, no work had been done, and because of that the doctors who I work under do not want me working back there, causing staffing issues. I was shocked, becuase two days of unnoticed work is a big deal. Well I went and back tracked all my reports that I was responsible for and found that my name was on all the reports. I filed a grievence and recieved two letters from HR. The first was letting me know that they had recieved my girevence and were going to go forward with it. A few weeks later a second letter telling me that my director's boss has reviewed the grievence spoke with my director and the punishment stands.
The punishment was me being written up, which means if I try to transfer within the hospital there is no way I would be able too since this is over my head. I went back to HR and explained that I had submitted the reports and that I infact did do my work as expected. HR told me it came down to documenting my work. The only thing that pops in my head was that the lady who I covered who has been working there longer than I can think of, hand writes her reports along with dictating them. I did not write anything down, because only in that area is that done. We fax reports from other places within the department but only verbally document anything.
So my theroy is that on the day my co-worker came back to work, she saw there was nothing written in her log. She got upset went to the director and thats how the ball started rolling. I however was able to prove that infact I had documented my work. Till this day (12/27/07) I have yet to meet with my director to see if my write up has been removed. I am angry over the way nothing is being done. No one will explain to me why I am being written up, when I am in the right. Is there anything more I can do if HR is not helping me out and no one will explain to me exactly what is going on??????
