Hey,

My friend's mom is going through some issues. She is renting a house from a friend's friend; and it's not up to par. The plumbing has issues, the ceiling in one of the bedrooms came down, and now it is up for back taxes foreclosure. She wants out of the agreement, so how can she do this the cheapest way possible....

The first option is to try to reach an agreement with the landlord.
If that doesn't go anywhere... I think my first stop might be with the building inspector to check out the collapsed roof and possibly force her out of the residence... which would get her off the hook of a lease.
