Something Crazy. I just got a collection letter in the mail from a local law firm that is representing the Superior Court of Arizona, Juvenile Division. They claim I owe $35.70 from a Juvenile Probation assessment. That was over 19 years ago. I was 16 at the time and I'm 35 years old now. What I don't understand is at the time I did everything I was supposed to do, I went to all my classes, went to my probation officer and I satisfied the terms of my probation and I was released from probation by a Judge when I was 17. Of course I have no records of the payments or any receipts! This was over 19 years ago. Who holds onto their records that long...? I believe Superior Court made the error but I have no way to prove it. Can they really collect on me after all this time? It's only $35 but it's the principal of it, I pay out big money every year in taxes and I feel the state and country is already getting enough of my blood. When does it stop!??! Can anyone shed some light on my options here?

I just researched the SOL for someone else in a very similiar situation (in the Carolinas), and found that the SOL had passed, and I feel that it has also passed in your situation .... however ... Post back to remind me, and I'll research this particular issue for you, in your State (AZ), with a service in which I subscribe for legal research ... tomorrow, that is ... I need to get some sleep right now. :)
