Which legal form would we need to give temporary power to my mom and dad in the event both my wife and I died or were incapacitated in an accident? Meaning, power to sell our home, take care of our bills, insurance, etc. We are working on our Will but are going on a cruise next week so we need something in place before our departure.

Which legal form would we need to give temporary power to my mom and dad in the event both my wife and I died or were incapacitated in an accident? Meaning, power to sell our home, take care of our bills, insurance, etc. We are working on our Will but are going on a cruise next week so we need something in place before our departure.

This document would be called a "power of attorney." You may also want to think about a "living will" which designates someone with the decision making capacity regarding your health issues in the event you were incapacitated. You should get the will done at your earliest convenience as well. Enjoy the cruise!
