Job opportunities lost now?

In December, I made a mistake and was arrested for retail theft. I completed community service, and took a PTI program. The charges were dismissed and I am going to college in the fall. My question is:
Are a lot of jobs closed to me now? I do not have the money to get it expunged and am really scared that I ruined my chances. Please respond because I do not know what to do. I want to get a degree in Biology and later get into genetics.

It was not a misdemeanor.... It was a summary offense.... I do not think this will help but I just wanted to specify that and I am sorry if this is not in the right area.

If the charges were actually dismissed then my thought is it should not be on your record.
