Me and my daughter father have joint legal custody. When we went to court for this order that is the only thing it states, nothing else. Our child attends a private school and so he agreed to pay half of the school tution but it was never ordered for him to because neither laywer brought it up, i was defend by a HORRIBLE public defender since at the time I could not afford a laywer. He never paid on time and then stopped paying it all together, so I took him to court and I was told "Oh well its not in the order". He makes 4x's as much as me and has her 1 full day more so I was told I am out of luck for child support as well. is that true? Well I recently found out from my daughter that her father took her on a tour of the school in his district and talked to the princible there and she is going to that school next year. I have tried to ask him about it but he will not answer my phone call, texts or answer me in person about this issue, he never communicates with me! Our child has been at the private school since she was 2 years old and is now 8. If he sends her to his school it will mess with my time with my child since I dont have a car to get her to that school or pick her up which is why she rides the bus to and from school when she is at my house. We live in different districts so having her take the bus to this new school would not be an option. Is there anything I can do about this?

Yes, you can go back to court and seek a modification of the custody order.

But, private school is expensive.

Is it practical, considering your financial situation?

You need not answer the question, just think about it.

Public school might be an effective option.

If you want to fight it, take him back to court.

You can hire your own lawyer this time.

Our daughter has gone to this private school since she was in nursery school and is now going into 3rd garde, so it is pratical. I just think that since he makes 4xs as much as me and we have joint physical and joint legal that he should be responsible for paying at least half of the tution since it is his child too. Public school is not an option since we live in different school distircts and the bus would not transport her from one school district to another one. She uses the bus at my house since there is only one car in my household and it is used in the morning for her step dad to go to work
