Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft joint suspension

Can you please tell me what joint suspension is? My son has been convicted of multiple counts of robbery. He has not priors. What is the likelihood that the judge will grant (a) probation; minimal jail time and probation, house arrest or joint suspension (explain what this is)?
