We found my father had a judgement filed against him May 19,1986 for $315.84 @ 1 1/2% / month from August 31,1985. He passed away December 12, 2006. Is the lien on the property (that has always been in her name) still good eventhough my father has passed away? Does the lien expire if not renewed? If the lien is not valid, how do you remove it from the books? State of Ohio

Thank you.

Judgment liens GENERALLY die when they get too old.

Have a title company run a title search on the land to see if it is still valid.

Also, I suspect that there is a pretty short claim period on a deceased person's estate.

But the title company will tell you exactly what the status of the lien is.
