jury duty

Hi, I heard from a friend that his friend has gotten 3 jury duty notices and he threw away each one of them. What is the penalty? What could happen? Why hasn't he been caught?

Depends where he is. I've seen people not show up for jury duty, and the judge presiding over the selection issues a bench warrant for their arrest. Fines are probably more common.

I had an employee once who disregarded her jury duty notices, and THREE YEARS later received a notice that she could either show up for jury duty on such and such a date (no changes, which is rare in my state) or face contempt of court charges.
