jury selection?

ginny,

The litigants do not pick the jury. The jury is comprised of those chosen from a pool of eligible persons.

The attorneys for both sides then have a number of challenges which may bump a juror and another is chosen as a replacement from the pool.

Thus your question should be: Do litigants in a civil trial possess the right to challenge a potential juror.

Perhaps another will be able to answer this query since I do not have the answer for you.

I just found the following on wikipedia.org:

Selected jurors are generally subjected to a system of examination whereby both the prosecution (or plaintiff, in a civil case) and defense can object to a juror.

Since you cannot always trust wikipedia, perhaps another individual knowledgeable of this will chime in.

You have double posted this question. I found the Texas Rules for Civil Procedure and posted a link to them. Jury selection is in rules 216-236. You can strike (not hit but nix them) jurors in Texas for cause. Read the rules.
