Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Just attempted petty theft?

I live in NY and just today something has happened to me. I work in a mall and my car was parked outside of the doors of the store that I work at. I heard my brothers name over the announcements at my store and they asked for him to return to his car. I'm currently in the process of buying the car off of him so it is still under his name. Anyways, I rush outside to see a cop car and also the mall security at my car. They said that some women was caught in my car looking for money to take. I had my all my car doors locked but the driver side window was opened about an inch which I now regret ever doing, but she unlocked it through the window. I filed the report and told them that I want to press charges against her. They said that she will be charged with attempted petty theft because she didn't actually steal anything because I honestly don't keep anything in my car that would be worth stealing. I wanted to know if I could get her on anything else than just that charge because I want her to get into more trouble than a slap on the wrist.Thanks!

Its not about wanting revenge. Nothing was stolen out of my car, I could care less. The sad part of it is that she was desperate enough to do it. If you knew where I was from and how badly things are taking care of by enfourcment in my town you would understand. My car was not the only one that was broken into.. she deserves the consequences. Shes in her mid twenties and she knows right from wrong. She was stupid enough to do it in the day light, and she needs to get into trouble for it before she does something that really screws up her life. I'm not out for revenge, I just don't want to have to worry about my car out in the parking lott everytime I go to work. You would understand if you were in my situation

Your right I would. I would understand that the Police and courts knwo best how to handle this and the law(s) to apply. No matter how you word this it still comes back to vengence on your part sorry. You lost nothing let it go

Your right I didn't lose any of my posessions. That's not why I am here. I'm not here to get everything I can on this women and tear her down. I want to know more about my situation and the crime that she has commited. I know my law enfourcment quite well, not to mention I live across the street from them. I know how they do things. It's not a matter of me getting revenge, It is a matter of me knowing what she did and how it is getting taken care of.

If possible, I would try to forgive and forget. Although she is young, you never know what her situation might be. Maybe she is homeless, abused or an addict. She probably needs help more than anything. I'd rather her get help than put in jail. Hopefully the police and law will help her find the right place for her to seek advice and get help.

And did you make it up about other cars? Because, then you're saying she just aimlessly broke into cars and never found anything.

and your window was down an inch? HOW DID SHE BREAK INTO IT THEN? Magic? One inch and she had one, some kind of really thin long arms?
