i was caught shoplifting 3 months ago and i just got a letter saying that i would have to attend a juvenile conference committee and that if i dont then they will have the court handle my case. i was wondering what is this? is this court? and what do i have to do to prepare for this? o and this is in the state of NJ.

thank you very much

It appears its a way to avoid court and possible criminal record. Where I cant say for sure it does sound like a positive for you to reduce the damages your bad choice has caused

and also both me and my friend were 16 when we were caught shoplifting. but my friend recently turn 17 a month ago and i am turning 17 on november3. and the j.c.c. is on the 10th. i was wondering is 17 still a juvenile or an adult? because i read stories that say 17 is an adult.

thanks for all the help

Since you already have a date for JCC its not likely they will decide to charge you as adult now
