My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington
Last night, me and a friend were caught shoplifting some fishing supplies at a local Fred Meyer. I ended up having $19 worth of stuff, and he had $60. They decided to press charges and they got the police to come down and tell us that we got arrested, they read us our rights and they left. Our parents came and picked us up. I am 16 years of age, almost 17 at the end of November and my friend is 16. Im curious on what will happen to us. I have a clean record, never been in trouble before and I am straight A student
How long will it take to get a court date?
Should I write a letter to Fred Meyer expressing my sorrow?
Can this be diverted or taken off my record?
What will they do to me in court?
Will me and my friend share the same court date?
Will this affect me with applying for scholarships or applying to 4-year colleges?
What can I expect over the next couple of months?
Also anything else you can share with me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your time.
