juvenile wont give back hubbys dog

My hubby bought a dog and I didn't know he paid for it or told her we were keeping the dog. I gave her the dog and she said she would bring it back if her mom let her keep it. When I found out my hubby paid for the dog I asked her for it back. She refused. I then filed a civil suit on her mom since she is only 16. What are the chances Ill get it back? Anything else I can do to get it back? If her mom disputes my claim and this goes to a hearing what can I present in my case? I know u cant enter into a verbal contract with a minor, but would this be considered a verbal contract? I just want my dog back if they return it I'll drop the lawsuit.

OK, your first two sentences are a bit garbled there. But if I understand this, you are saying that you obtained this dog (not knowing how much, if any, your husband paid for it) and then gave it to the minor on the condition that she would bring it back if her mother DIDN'T let her keep it. If that is the case, that you did give her the dog, then I would say you are out of luck.

It would be along the lines of an engagement ring after a breakup. The ring was a gift, and normally doesn't have to give it back.
