I hope someone can answer my question, I was in VA at nissan pavillion to see Jimmy Buffet. I left my ID in the car by mistake, im 23 years old by the way, but I was with my brother who is 21. I wasnt going to drink that much so I didnt worry about. I had my brother buy me a beer for the fact that he had his ID. So he hands me the beer and some lady walks up and ask me for my ID, well I dont have it and I informed her I was 23. So they take me to the place where the drunks, disorderly conduct people go and wright me a form up for saying im banned from there for a year. Now the police where there and didnt do anything. The "supervisor" said its VA law that if you try to BUY alcohol without proper ID even though you are 21 or older it is punishable by law. 1st. Is that true? 2. I didnt try to buy it, I had my brother buy it and he gave it to me, So is there a law stating you cant have alcohol in your possesion without ID even though your 21? The end result was we got kicked out of concert before it even started and banned from the pavillion for a year. I want to try to get my money back for the ticketts they took. Any insight would be Great

Make a claim to the venue for a return of your money. If they deny the claim (and they probably will) then you can try and sue them in small claims court.

The venue can choose to kick you out for most any reason they choose. Possessing alcohol without proper ID is a way that THEY can get hammered by the state, so they likely enforce possession laws vigorously. It is also very likely that there are signs around that state you must have ID to have alcohol.

In any event, make a claim, then try to sue them. Chances are it won't work, but you never know - you might get lucky.
