I was laid off last month due to budget concerns. In an effor to cut costs my job was eliminated. However, I believe the decison was made to lay me off -out of five people with the same title working in other units I was the only one let go - as my supervisor and I did not get along. (I had reported her to HR for requesting that I look the other way on a legal issue one year ago; nothing came of this except a mandatory monthly 'effective communication meeting' - only one of which took place.) Last year I recieved a sub-par review, in spite of the fact that my entire team (those who reported to me) rated me 5 (the highest) as did the other members of the unit. My supervisor, however, rated me a 2 then 'accidently' sent my score out to the entire team.
Two issues -
1. In order to recieve a severance package (2 weeks pay) and a letter of recommendation I must sign a statement that I will not pursue any legal action ever.
2. My postion has now been re-posted as vacant. The job title is different, but the description is the same.
Question - Should I pursue legal action or just sign the paper, get my $ and my recommendation, and move forward?
