I purchased a house and farm property 5 years ago with a large natural gas supply line bisecting the property. The original owner of the farm told me recently that he knew that the pipeline lease for the property had expired by now whatever that means. Contacted the gas company and they sent me a copy of the original lease to the original owner of the property in the 1960's. They said they owe no royalties and that pipeline lease would be in my mortgage papers. It isn't. What are my rights concerning the lease. I understand the right of way they have for running the pipeline and have no problem with that. Am I owed any compensation and just what legal documents concerning the pipeline should be in my mortgage papers?
