Greetings~
We're renting a house on a one-year lease, which provides that 60 days before lease end, the property management company will contact the tenants (us) to see if they wish to renew the lease. We took the option to renew--at no increase in rent.
A few weeks later, we get an e-mail from the PM indicating that the landlord doesn't wish to renew the lease, but instead wants to go month-to-month.
One thing we do know is that the owner was served a notice of default by their mortgage company (we actually accepted service of it). We're wondering what the advantages would be for a landlord to opt for a month-to-month, instead of a lease.
All thoughts are most welcome. Thanks much.
