So I just relocated to DC from Richmond, VA and had to break my lease. It involved an unreasonable fee of one months rent but whatever. Throughout the entire process the landlord done nothing but a pain claiming that he isn't getting very many people wanting to see the house even though when I put an ad up I got at least 20 responses, but once again, that's OK.
NOW he is claiming that he never received my rent check for the month of June and I have been served with a notice demanding payment + late fee, which would actually be fine except instead of sending it to my current address, which he is fully aware of, he sent it to my old address, meaning that I received the notice a full week past the date listed on which he required payment
Personally I consider this harassment at this point and need to find out if there is anything I can do to at best get completely out of the lease, or at least force him to act in an ethical manner
