I signed a lease with a landlord were the kitchen, dining room, and living room are common areas and furnished by the landlord. I live in the house with them renting two rooms upstairs. My lease expires on Augus 15th. They are moving to OH in less then a week and taking all the furniture with them. I gave a 25 day notice of me leaving, but the landlord said that he will be nice and only make me pay until the 31st. My room is empty because I thought the expiration of the lease meant i could move so I put everything i own in storage. Can the landlord really make me pay rent and live in an empty house until the end of the month? I am currently in TN and I am moving to a different state as well. If they make me stay, I will be not only living in an empty house, but having to drive to AL five days a week for a new job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should be fortunate that your landlord agreed to let you out of your lease. I don't know what it says but apparently the landlord agreed to accept your "25 day notice" which I don't think is a type of legal notice but just a way to say that you decided that 25 days was enough time to terminate your lease. Typically you need to give at least 30 days prior notice and that also may be in advance of the next lease term.
