Hi,

I have a question: is it legal for the landlord to live in his own house after the start of the lease date to a tenant, but before the tenant moves in? The tenant notified the landlord of his late arrival. Does the landlord have to notify the tenant that he will continue to stay at the property until the tenant moves in?

In this scenario, does the tenant have to pay rent from the commencement of the lease to his move in date? The tenant was not prevented to move in at an earlier date, and the late move-in was tenants decision.

Any advice will be appreciated!

Of course the landlord can live there until the tenant moves in.

If a lease has been signed (by both the landlord and the tenant) to begin on a certain date, that is when rent begins.
