landlord problem

ok recently i rented an apt from a friend of mines father.he owns the complex and she happens to be the landlord.well i got arrested for a non realated crime on june 22nd and was released on the 12th of august.now i was never served any paperwork from a constable nor any eviction notice or anything.no paperwork what so ever.when i go back to my place to pay the rent i find out they broke in and changed the locks and i also had items come up missing from my apt.what can i do as far as law suite wise goes.they even posted for rent signs in my window.please help

Was Landlord aware you were in the pokey?

Sounds like your landlord assumed you had abandoned the place. Even if they knew you were in jail it's likely they had no idea when you would be released.
