My wife and 4 kids just moved from a house that we were renting from a family member for 2 years.the house was very dirty and needed alittle work witch we did and made the house a very nice place to live. when we first moved in, they had left some trucks, frig, small tractor,a couple tv's. They asked me to sell the stuff for them.A month before we moved i trusted a so called friend to pay $4000 for the tractor in 1 month so i could give it to the landlord, He never payed and I cant find him, I know Im repsonsible for the money and tryed to make a payment arrangement with the landlord, he said no that he would contact a detective. what can i do??? :(

If you sold the tractor to someone and he failed to pay you, you aren't liable for anything.
If the police come, tell them everything you know about the "friend".

If, on the other hand, they catch the guy and he says he gave you the money (and has proof); you've got problems.

Whatever you do, if you talk to the cops, tell the truth.
Otherwise, don't say anything to them.
