This is very confusing, but I will do my best to explain things. We rented a house for a year, we were evicted...went through the whole court process. We had paid the rent, but we were not given rent receipts..so there was no way to prove it. We know why he didn't do receipts and I have learned the hard way never to find myself in that situation again. O.k. now back to my issue, the Constable showed up last Monday morning (April 21st 9:00 a.m.), we were in the process of moving our belongings out..my husband was on his way back from taking a load to storage. He told me that I had 3 minutes to get my son, and anything we needed (medications, toothbrushes etc..) and to leave immediately. We got outside, and the Landlord said come back at 4 o'clock and we will have everything out at the street for you to pick up. We went back at 4 o'clock, and MOST of our things were outside, LAndlord says I am going to give you 1 hour to get everything, then I am calling "the law" to come out here and take you to jail for tresspassing. Our things were about 10 feet from the front door. So after my husband and father left with another load I myself started dragging things to the street, so that they wouldn't be on his property. At that point he felt the need to come warn me again that I had less than an hour before he called "the law". I wound up calling them myself, but they told me that it is a civil issue and they cannot get involved. So the cut-off time came and we were told to leave and whatever we did not get was going to be "unrecognizable by tommorrow". I have never been through this in my life, I was scared to death. So we left with what we could stuff in the car, and over the next few days started noticing exactly what we cannot account for, none of these things were even outside. And most of it belongs to my children.2 Violins,2 Stereos, game systems, games the list goes on and on. The following Thursday I called his house, his son (which helped him move our things out) acknowledged that most of these things were piled up by the front door, still inside. The next day I called and spoke to the LL and he was very nasty..he said the judge told him he did not have to put everything out there and he could keep what he wanted to keep. But denied knowing anything about the missing items. I have called everyone from the local police all the way up to our attorney general and they all agree he cannot this..but noone has any recommenations on how to get it back. I cannot afford the $70 it takes to file a civil suit. Today I went to check the mail, it has been over a week and the forwarding has not started..there was no mail. I know good and well there should be mail there. My Mother was with me, we were parked on the street..she wanted to ask him for the 1 peice of our trampoline frame that he is appearently holding hostage..he said everything we left was gone to the dump...he said "you had your chance to get it..not my fault"..he then balled up his fist and hit the hood of my car and said "I am about to tear this car up"...he then said "oh by the way I do have 2 violins inside, I just took them back in yesterday..you never came to pick them up"..I then reminded him that his own son said all of our things are still there, he gritted his teeth and told us to get the h#!! away from his property..we were on the street.
2nd part..a month before we moved his brother (who lives next door) shot our dog, dog lived..we filed charges against the brother right before being evicted..court was yesterday..county prosecutor is going for the max..however in the last convrsation I had with LL he told me "if you show up to court, you will not get your stuff"..please help me...anyone????This is Mississippi.

If your former Landlord will not give you your items, if he still has them. You ronly means to retrieve them or money to replace them is through court. Find the $70.00 its your only means
