I recently went to Dept of Social Services for assistance in paying our rent that was 3 months in arrear. we paid her the difference needed to be caught up till 9-15. we have a month to month lease and she gave us a 3 day notice yesterday. For the past 2 months or so, we've had mold in the basement, and recently found out we have no heat. We owe 1 month now and I don't feel this is right. We haven't paid rent for this month yet but wanted to know our options due to the problems we have.

Before I reply let me say we are volunteers here with lives outsid eof this site. Therefore "quick" replies will not always happen! Now if you fail to pay rent you can be evicted its that simple. If you have other issues then you need to report them to Landlord or proper authority to handle. Not paying rent is not an option! There are legal means to withold rent. You need to google your states rental laws!
