Landlord wants compensation on his bank's overdraft for a bounced check

My check for this month's rent bounced. I reimbursed the landlord with the rent within 24 hours of his letting me know. He, however, let me know 10 days after I gave him the check and ended up incurring a large bank overdraft. Now he wants me to compensate him for the overdraft, which is about 25% of the rent. Is this my liability?
