Landscape Loss

We are starting a new business and have everything set up. The business set up a verbal contract with a trailer court to mow and trim the property once a week. An itemized bill was presented each week along with a note stating that a $25 late fee would be assessed. The woman in charge will not pay up. Each court is responsible for paying its own bills according to the parent company. As of now, she owes our business in excess of $3000. She has made 2 prior payments. We have no idea why she won't pay. She says the parent company doesn't allow late fees to be paid. She has insulted one of the workers time and again. She has called him lawnboy, uneducated and stupid - in front of prospective tenants. What would be the easiest, cheapest way to recover this money. We have had to take out a personal loan to pay bills and don't feel this is fair.

Considering you're posting in the small claims forum, it looks like you already know the answer. Sue the person or company you contracted with in small claims court. If they try to plead that they're not liable because "each court is responsible for paying its own bills", ask them how it is they have the authority to contract for those courts to arrange their landscaping. They can't have it both ways.

Forget about the insults, that's not worth fighting over.

Why on earth would you let it get to $3000 before doing something about it? I would have at least discontinued their service. Sue them now. It won't cost much it is not hard.
