I hope maybe someone knows the answer, or can tell me where to look about this. I'll make it as short as possible. This weekend, police came by my house as they had a complaint about my son possibly breaking a neighbor's window. We worked that out, but the cop did take my name. He came back to tell me that I had an outstanding warrant. The warrant was for larceny in the fourth degree. I found out that the warrant was issued in early 1994!! In 1995 I had moved out of the state, but last year moved back here. I obviously never knew anything about this, and am sure I've never stolen anything. How can a warrant be 12 years old? and, is this something I should be worried about? I mean, hasn't too much time gone by for them to convict me of anything? I don't even remember what I was doing or much of anything from 12 years ago, so how helpful would I be in my own defense? Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. I live in CT.
Thanks

Warrants last until they are served or recalled. And they are not recalled without cause. So, it would have remained until such time it was served.

They may have a hard time bringing the issue to trial as the witnesses might have memory problems, but depending on the details it is still possible to prosecute successfully.

Contact an attorney ASAP.
