So I got my first citation earlier for going 72 in a 60. Didn't see the state trooper chilling in the median. All he wrote on the citation was a court date, didn't give a fine or have me sign the back. So apart from a court date, what other trouble could I get into? Again, i have no previous offenses on my record.

Thanks

You aren't in any trouble, my friend.

You got a lousy traffic citation, not a capital murder indictment.

The easiest thing to do, if you can, is take an online traffic school.

As far as the fine, Google the court, and go to their site.

Or, use that Alexander Bell invention, and give them a jingle and ask about the fine, and traffic school.

If you take traffic school (you can do it from the comfort of your home), this whole thing gets wiped away, and you're as pure as a certain president!!!

If traffic school isn't an option, inquire of a lawyer as to how one obtains a NO POINTS VIOLATION. I hera your state allows this practice. Its all about the money, don't you know?

Ohio takes a rather interesting approach to traffic citations.

All traffic offenses in Ohio are classified as a misdemeanor of some sort.

Most misdemeanors are punishable by small (relative term, true) fine.

Many people may disagree with this classification, but I like the fact they're classified as misdemeanors.

As a misdemeanor offense, a person gets the the complete array of constitutional rights and protections associated with criminal offenses: ie...privilege against self-incrimination, right to legal representation in SOME cases, right to a jury trial, double jeopardy, and a presumption of innocence.
