I was ticketed in Orange county ca. My original fine was 300 dollars. I moved a few months ago and just recieved my summons . The penalties for it being late were 900 dollars. I am more than willing to pay the original cost of 300 dollars. What should I do to get the penalties removed?

You can try and request a new court date, but I suspect it has now gone to collections - hence the higher amount. If you do NOT take care of it you might find yourself with a warrant for your arrest and/or a suspended license.

It might, but I doubt it. You might consider consulting an attorney. If you failed to show in court, there is also the possibility that an arrest warrant was issued for your arrest. Even if there is no warrant, an attorney might b able to arrange a court appearance easier. On the other hand, you can call and ask about scheduling a new court appearance yourself ... it may no be possible, but it might be.

Usually, unless you were in a coma or some disaster such as a plane crash, the court really is not going to give your excuse much credence. So, consider the possibility that you may have to pay the full amount to get out of this hole.
