My husband and I found mold in our apartment which we are having tested. It started to spread and it was really bad. We gave the landlord a 72 hour notice (according to our lease if things are not kept to code and the conditions are an immediate danger to our health and safety we can terminate our lease if the problem is NOT CORRECTED) we can terminate our lease. The worker came in and just painted over the mold on the walls. We explained that that is not acceptable for mold, according to 3 professional construction workers and a nurse. This is extremely frustrating because we wrote a letter explaining why we were terminating our lease and that we were terminating our lease and asked if she would sign it and she refused. But we told her anyways that we would be out in 30 days. But, isn't a correction just about the same as a job being completed? She claims that the lease doesn't say that is has to be finished. They started but only painted over the mold, so technically didn't start. Please give us some insight. This is really frustrating.

The big issue in all of this is whether this mold constitutes a health or safety risk to you.

You'll know that when the results of the mold test come back.

Mold has become a sensitive issue and overblown in it's safety and health risks. There are many, many strains of mold and mildew with only a very few providing a health risk to humans.

I'd be more concerned as to the cause of this mold. Perfectly understandable if this shows up in humid areas such as the bathroom. Showing up in other places that are not humid, have good air circulation, etc. might be caused by a leak.
