My jurisdiction is: MA

We moved into an apartment and signed a lease that states we are allowed 1 dog in the unit. Before signing the lease we were told by the owners that we were allowed a dog that was lease the 20 pounds.

After moving in one of our neighbours complained that we aren't allowed a pet under their Condo Association Rules. We didn't receive a copy of the rules until after we moved in (the neighbour posted a copy on our front door).

Apparently the Condo Association Board met last week and told the Landlord that we need to pay the Condo Association $200 a month or give up the dog.

Is the owner responsible for the $200 because they didn't provide us with a copy of the Condo Regulations and told us we were allowed the dog?

If we refuse to pay the $200 can we be fined or evicted?

It is the landlords responsibility to make sure he is following the bylaws. Since he did not someone needs to pay the money or ask to terminate the lease. You will not be fined most likely it will be the lanlord but you need to determine now if you are able to stay in your lease since the LL did not follow the rules of the bylaws.
