I was enrolled with Matchmaker International here in Southwest Indiana. Along with several other clients, we learned Matchmaker closed its' doors on June 13, 2007. I wrote our attorney general and they suggested filing with the small claims court, which I did on July 27, 2007. Last Saturday, August 11, 2007, I received a letter in the mail from an attorney representing Matchmaker notifying me they are filing for bankruptcy. They are scheduled to have a meeting with Creditors on September 14, 2007. Well, my court date with my small claims suit is for Wednesday, August 22, 2007. My question is do I still go to the hearing on August 22 or should I withdraw or postpone it until after the creditor meeting in September. Or am I going to be left holding the bag with both cases? Any advice?

I would go ahead and go to your hearing on Aug. 22nd. Bankruptcy can be used to reorganize debt and your judgement, assuming you get one, could be included as a debt they need to repay if they don't get a discharge of debt..

This site explains different bankruptcies. I don't vouch for the site; it is for informational purposes only.
