My roommate and I moved into our apartment this past Sept. Upon renting the apartment the management company made sure we knew the building had "controlled access and parking" which is stated in the lease and and ad online. They also verbally expressed that the building had cameras. A few days ago our apartment was burglarized, with very important items taken. This was due to the front door "controlled access" door no longer working. After finding that out, we also found that the 'security cameras' didn't work and hadn't worked for years either. Is it legal for me to sue them? And what is the process?"

You may sue anyone for anything at anytime. Now winning is another issue. You cannot fault your Landlord for others wrong actions unless the Landlord was the thief
