So I'm posting on here because after a week of arguing between sc and ga dmvs, I still have no answers. I held a South Carolina license that was valid until 2022, but I do not have it nor use it anymore. I got a DUI in Georgia in 2011 under my Georgia license and have completed everything I was required to do to get an Interlock Permit in Georgia. When I go to the DMV, Georgia will not give me the interlock permit because South Carolina put a hold on my license ( because of the DUI. ) When I speak to South Carolina, I am told they cannot release the hold because my license is still technically suspended in Georgia, so I cannot get the interlock permit. I have spoke to both sides about a "catch 22" letter that is not materializing because they keep going back and forth about whether it is indeed a catch 22 situation. I cannot speak to anyone at pdps to get clearance either.
So, basically South Carolina is honoring Georgias suspension, and will not lift it until Georgia does. However Georgia will not issue me an interlock permit for the required six months because of the hold in South Carolina.
I have spoken to supervisors and I have gotten promises about letters going out and the situation being resolved only to call back a day or two later and no one have any idea what I am talking about. Other than paying the $250.00 dollars to request a hearing in Georgia which even then won't guarantee me anything, do I have any other recourse?
