In October of 05, I got pulled over for speeding. Then in January I got pulled over again for speeding. Then last month I got pulled over for the thrid time. When I got pulled over the last time the officer said that I was driving on a suspended license. This was the first time hearing that my license were suspended, I asked the officer why and he said that it was because of fines that I hadn't paid yet. The reason the fines weren't paid was because I didn't have the money at the time and was waiting to pay them. The officer gave me two tickets: one for speeding, and one for driving on a suspended license, which I didn't know about till I got pulled over. Well I paid off the past fines and the fine that I got when I got pulled over for the thrid time. But I didn't pay the fine that I got for driving on a suspended license, I pled not guilty and now I have a court date on June 13, 2006. I called penn dot and they said that the reason I didn't know that my license were suspended was because I never changed my address on my license, and I told them that I haven't had a permanent address for the past year and and I was waiting to change it. Well penn dot said that they could send me a letter stating that the letters that were sent to me informing me of my license being suspended were unclaimed because I didn't receive them. What I was wondering was is there any other steps to take for when I go to court because I can't afford to lose my license, and are there any rights that I might have and not know them. I would also like to say that I am a nineteen year old female, with a sixteen month old daughter, another child on the way. I also attend college full time. So as you can see I really can't afford to lose my license any longer than what I already have.
