this happened in pa, while on the job as a utility worker,i was in a chain drug store and I took a memory card from a photo machine that a customer had left behind ,I was later contacted by the store manager who knew me personallyand asked if I had seen the memory card because I was seen fooling with the machine. I said no because I was embarrassed at having took it , the manager then said that they just wanted to get the card back to the customer and if it was returned that would be the end of it but if they had to review the security tape then they would call the police, I returned the card 1/2 hr later ,a week later I was questioned about the incident by my employer and fired, do I have a claim against the national drug store chain for going to my employer after they said they wouldn't pursue action

No, I do not see a case against the store. (or your employer for firing you)

Let me see if I understand this correctly.

You stole a card. You lied about it.

Your employer learned about it, in what way we do not know, and took appropriate action -firing someone whose honesty has been rightly called into question.

And you think you can take legal action?

First, the manager may not have been within control of whether your employer was notified or not.

Second, we don't know that the manager is the one who notified your employer.

Third, even if the manager did blatantly lie to you, that is not illegal.

Silly, thieving wabbit, no case.

This reminds me of a Canadian guy busted and tried in Bosnia for trying to sell his employers secrets. After he was released from jail and went back to Canada, he was trying to find a way to sue his employer for the inhumane conditions present in the Bosnian legal system via Us or Canadian law. He was going on about how they ruined his life and his family.
