Life insurance from my ex

I know when we were married my ex put meas his beneficiary. He had many jobs and died on 8/30 homeless. How do I find out what life insurance may cme to me. I'm raising his 13 year old daughter.

You should also apply for his social security benefits. If he was homeless then he likely did not continue to pay the premiums on his life insurance but I actually do not know how you go about finding out if you were the beneficiary and if there was an active policy. I assume he doesn't have any estate?

I am applying for his SS benefits. But someone told me I should check into the life insurance as well and I'm not sure how that works.
