I wrote an ebook and started selling it online. I asked an attorney friend if I should register it with the copyright office and he said it legally became copyrighted when I released it into the publict. So someone bought it and found out it wasnt registered...they scanned it into their computer, whited out my name and replaced it with theirs, and registered it through the copyright office in their own name. Now they sent e-junkie a DMCA notice claiming copyright infringement and e-junkie disabled the purchase links on my site.

what do I do? I can't find anything specific in the DMCA that I could site in a counter-notice. I of course have all the evidence to show I wrote the damn thing (drafts, editable copies, etc.). All he has is a scanned, non-editable pdf version.

Any suggestions would be great!!!

This is not legal Advice!

Hi Paulski,

Your quote: I asked an attorney friend if I should register it with the copyright office and he said it legally became copyrighted when I released it into the public.
I would go back to your Attorney friend and ask what to do next, now that someone has stolen your e book because it was his advice that has put you in this crazy situation.

That's good at least you have extra proof.

It is very hard to suggest what you should do but i would go see your friend the lawyer because he knows more about your case.

Good Luck
