Long Term Employment and NO performance appraisals

I have worked 28.5 years with the same employer. I have NEVER had a performance appraisal - period. (I have no reprimands, or anything negative in my very large personnel file.) Literally, nothing in writing in my personnel file from my current or former CEO (I have only worked for two CEOs during my employment.) I can not seem to get comparable increases with others in the management group and am $10,000 below the mid-point of my salary range. In 2012 I attended a 12-month management training program as required. In 2011 our Branch Managers were sent to this same management training program and all four received between 6.13% and 7.19% salary increases in 2012 for their completion of the course in 2011. When I inquired as to why I only received a 5% increase this year, with no merit increase for completion of the management training, my CEO said no one received any type of "merit increase" for attending the training program. I have it in writing from the VP (over the Branch Managers) that "yes, the increases included the CrestCom merit increase". So, the VP of the Branch Managers said the merit increase was from the CEO. The CEO acts as if he knew nothing about it, and he doesn't remember any such conversation with the VP about any type of merit increase. (He threw the VP under the bus.) My CEO's other comment was "I think we gave you a pretty good increase." I received the lowest percentage of increase in the management group. Should I also mention that my CEO's high-school friend, and also a former co-worker, began employment with us less than six years ago and he has already reached mid-point at the same salary level I am at. I am the Vice President of Human Resources and I process the payroll. Unfortunately, I see everyone's salary increases. (Including another former co-worker of the CEO, who has also SURPASSED her mid-point in less than 15 years of employment with us.)

Yeah, they took good care of you, didn't they?

Bet, someone would almost kill to have your great job.

You got that super duper 5% pay increase.

If you are as smart as you are, you'll thank them for giving you that increase, powerful position, that keen title (Vice President), and letting you keep your great job in the outstanding company.
