Losing my dog

My 3 roommates and I adopted a dog together. We split all of the costs 4 ways; however the humane society would only allow us to put one name on the application. Now we are all moving out and going our separate ways. Ther girl whose name is on the application wants to keep the dog, but she is negligent in taking care of him. The other two roommates think he belongs with me. I take care of him most of the time. Am I stuck without options because her name is on the adoption papers? Please Help me...I don't want to lose my dog.

If you cannot find a compromise, then take her to small claims court and prove to the judge that, due to her negligence, you have incurred expenses that she is not refunding you for when you take care of the dog. Have you roommates write affidavits to back you up.
